Precious Project has started a Primary School ScholarshipFund as a way to reach as many needy children as possible and streamline our workload. This fund will do exactly what sponsorship is presently doing: give students a free education. The fund will also allow for “partial”scholarships to help those families who may be able to afford some, but not all, of the tuition at the Precious English Medium Primary School.
Presently, generous sponsors are covering this need. Each sponsor is linked to a specific child and completely covers that child’s tuition, books, uniform, shoes, school supplies and other school expenses. However, as this program has grown, so has the administrative costs of running it. This new fund will streamline administration while simultaneously reaching more children, especially those who might fall“between the cracks” of dire poverty and poverty.
Donations to the Primary School Scholarship Fund will be set at $1,000 minimum a year and will also accept even larger amounts. Donors who give to this fund are automatically enrolled in the Scholarship Friends Club. Club members will receive reports three times a year on children who are benefitting from their generosity. They will also be invited to an annual reception where they will receive an update of happenings in Nshupu, have an opportunity to meet board and staff members, as well as other club members.
